Bus Stop - Vladimirovca
Unknown — 1960s-1980s
Description
This Soviet-era bus stop in Vladimirovca is in neoclassical style. It stands on a raised concrete platform with a semi-circular stair and a low, elongated roof supported by white-painted columns. This footprint reminds me of another bus stop in Ciucur Mingir. Walls faced in pastel blue ceramic tile, giving the interior a cool, muted tone. The left interior wall features a mosaic of a deer, rendered in reddish-brown and white or very light blue tesserae, standing in a patch of green grass in rolling hills of blue and cream, with stylized white clouds in the sky. In Moldovan folklore, the deer often symbolizes gentleness, innocence, and the quiet spirit of the forest. Black diamond motifs interrupt the tiled surface at regular intervals, contrasting with the light blue background. Rough plaster covers large parts of the façade and the area around the window on the side; the shelter’s right side is completely covered in white and lacks any mosaics or ornaments. Like in Ciucur Mingir’s case, someone has painted over the six freestanding columns in unfirm white.
