A classification of socialist-era art and architecture.
This taxonomy organises the database according to medium and function. The first section addresses monumental art according to material technique; synthesis of the arts stood central to Soviet artistic discourse, with artists working in smalt, ceramic tile, concrete, metal, stone, sgraffito, and stained glass. The remaining sections categorise architectural and urban typologies by their social and functional roles within the planned city.
