Bus Stop - Otac
Unknown — 1960s-1980s
Description
The Otac bus stop is built with a flat roof extending across a concrete shelter and a flanking wall of rough-cut stone, giving it a heavier, more monumental profile than many rural stops. The stonework depicts the hero stork motif (see also Ciumai and Ghindesti bus stops) with a grape cluster. The original mosaics are still visible on the outer walls, featuring geometric motifs in blue, green and white on one side and grapes on the opposing wall. Inside, however, the central mosaic has been painted over, showing two doves encircled with grapes and greenery. I think the graffiti artist reinterpreted or obscured the original design, as there may be an outline of a plant that they didn’t introduce in the coarse painting.
