Sculpture - Tennis Court - Chisinau
Unknown — 1970?
Description
This is one of my favorite statues in Moldova due to its rectangular proportions, the shadow contrasts due to the stylized tones, and dynamic movement. The sculpture depicts a tennis player about to serve, holding a tennis racket in one hand and a ball in the other. His naked body is muscular, with anatomy emphasizing shoulders, arms, and thighs – the depiction of the perfect socialist realist man. Drapery or wind trails add to the sense of movement.
