Description

On March 21, 1957, the Ministry of Culture issued Order No. 162, which provided for the founding of the Moldovan troupe as part of the Moldavian-Russian Musical Dramatic Theater. In 1966, on May 4, the Moldavian-Russian Theater in Bălți was given the name of Vasile Alecsandri. On January 19, 1970, by order of the Ministry of Culture No. 12-k, the theater's staff was reorganized into the Moldavian Musical Drama Theater and the Russian Theater. On January 26, 1990, by a decision of the Government, the "Vasile Alecsandri" Theater was granted "National" status - the first National Drama Theater in the Republic. The new building (584 seats), built between 1978 and 1991, was festively inaugurated on May 19, 1991. The building was built according to the project of the Moscow architect Ianina Galperina . It is built according to an individual plan and has an important urbanistic role for the organization of the related space – Vasile Alecsandri Square . On the frontispiece of the building is posted the sculptural composition "Theatre", authored by the artist Iurie Hvorovski . This composition is included in the register, at position 30 in the Bălți city compartment, benefiting from the status of an art monument of national importance. [ 2 ] The theater has two halls, large and small, both with revolving stages. The large hall has 584 seats.
