Mosaic - "TeleRadio-Moldova" - Chisinau

Rather unique in combining mosaic and sculpture, the composition is mounted on the facade of the TeleRadio-Moldova building Chișinău. Curved bands in shades of dark blue, turquoise, green, and white, suggest radio waves. The concentrid metal discs represent a film roll and perhaps a satellite. The smalt mosaics with barely visible grout lines in a cold pallet reminds me of innovation and technological progress. The art piece shows signs of wear, with some pieces having disappeared and some discoloration of the mosaic surface and corrosion on the metal elements.
