Mosaic - Grigoriopol

Water is the central theme of this vertical mosaic relief in Grigoriopol. It shows a femalefigure standing frontally with arms raised. Above her, stylized rays and a rain cloud form an arc over her head, while rain falls to her left. Water seems to trickle down her figure. On the bottom right, water waves flow outward from a dam, and the bottom left depicts a bunch of grapes and stalks of wheat. Grigoriopol lies next to the Dniester river, though I don’t see any dams nearby. Primary colors – red, yellow, and blue – dominate the artwork, set against a white background. The tesserae are industrial-made ceramics. The mosaic remains in good condition.
