Monument "For the Fighters Establishing Soviet Power" - Chisinau
F. Naumov (architect); L. Dubinovsky (sculptor) — 1966
Description
The monument includes the inscription in Romanian (Cyrillic) "Луптэторилор pentru puterea soveticэ" and in Russian "Борцам за власть Советов", translated in English as "To the fighters for Soviet power". The plaque was destroyed around the end of 2022 or 2023, though it's unclear if it was due to decay or done intentionally. I'm inclined to think the latter, considering the rather provocative, pro-Soviet inscription and the recency of Russia's fullscale invasion of Ukraine - a conflict that directly impacted Moldova and continues to do so today.
