Bas Relief - Eternity Memorial Complex - Chisinau
A. Maiko and I. Poniatowski (sculptors); A. Minaev (architect) — 1975
Description
Inaugurated on May 9, 1975, on the 30th anniversary of the Soviet victory in World War II, these red stone relief panels from the Eternity Memorial Complex in Chișinău present high-relief compositions. One panel shows a group of four static, standing figures. Three male soldiers occupy the center, with one protecting a child. Radiating lines behind the figures suggest victory. The second panel is more dynamic, depicting seven soldiers in profile, advancing in unison carrying helmets and carry rifles. Tank tracks and turrets are visible behind them.
