Stele - Kolkhoz "Vladimir Ilyich" - Rașcov

Unknown1960s-1980s

Description

A roadside stele for the "Vladimir Ilyich" collective farm (one of two steles), built from a cluster of vertical concrete ribs rising from a stepped plinth. A hexagonal medallion bearing a hammer-and-wheat emblem caps the structure, with a hexagonal plaque naming the kolkhoz set into the shaft below a bust of Lenin’s portrait. Four hexagonal panels at the base carry low-relief imagery of a radiating sun and wheat, frontal image of a cow and two milk bottles, a tracker behind a sheef of wheat, and a stork – Moldova’s national animal that I’ve written about in many entries, but this type of depiction (without the grapes or golden halo) is unusual.
