Description
House of Culture. P. Tkachenko became one of the first objects in Moldova, where a complex architectural and artistic design was carried out. On both sides of the central entrance in the house are depicted statues: on the left – a guy in coveralls, holding a coil of wire in his hands and a girl in national costume holding a piece of fabric (products of the leading Bender enterprises), on the right – a guy playing a fluer – a Moldovan folk instrument, and a girl holding a vine in her hands. It is interesting to know how they appeared on these mosaics. The construction of the building of the House of Culture was carried out in the midst of the struggle against excesses in architecture, initiated by N. S. Khrushchev. In order to reduce the cost of construction, it was decided to exclude from the project all the columns that adorn the building, and decorate the bare planes behind them with mosaics. But in the end, the price of the mosaics turned out to be higher than the cost of the columns. But the main artistic work of the authors is located in the lobby of the House of Culture – this is a mosaic-style painting panel “Workers of the city of Bender”. In the center of the composition, on the background of the State Flag of the MSSR with the Order of Lenin, a girl is depicted with the gifts of the Moldovan land, symbolizing the prosperous republic. Citizens of the city are depicted on the both sides, united in a single labor impulse for the sake of the prosperity of their homeland. On the opposite wall, the panels are supplemented by four plots with images from the history of the city and the republic: peasant uprisings against Turkish rule, Russian campaigns against Ottoman fortresses in Moldova, the revolutionary events of 1917, the liberation of Moldova from the German-Romanian invaders in 1944.
