Bus Stop - Camenca Customs Checkpoint
Unknown — 1960s-1980s
Description
A flat-slab cantilever shelter painted mint green and white, the canopy carrying the words for customs post in dark teal serif lettering. One side wall curls down in a smooth concrete scroll; inconventiently the side wall is open only to the approach facing away from the coming buses. The pillars are textured with a scalloped vertical relief. Situated near the de facto border with Moldova, explaining the need for a customs zone and checkpoint – and perhaps related to the cannery opposite the road, which likely accounts for a sizeable value in mid-processed goods.
