Bus Stop - Bursuc
Unknown — Socialist Modernist
Description
This bus stop in Bursuc follows the same structural design as the one in Lozova, with a flat concrete roof supported by two slender columns and walls entirely faced in mosaic. In contrast to Lozova, this shelter is one continuous flowing wall. The decoration here is also different: abstract motifs suggest petals, leaves, and radiating forms, built up from tesserae in earthy browns, pale yellow, green, blue, and red. The roof is framed by ceramic in a pleasant pale, almost turquois blue, though weather is chipping away the tiles. The fractured, geometric style remind me of Soviet avant gardism. Though both shelters in Bursuc and Lozova are in use, the one in Bursuc is in much worse condition: around a third of the mosaic has been destroyed and weather has dirtied the remainder.
